Biography

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trang Si Trung obtained his master’s and doctoral degree of technical science in Bioprocess Technology from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand in 2003. After that, he conducted his post-doctoral research on Marine Biopolymer in 2010 at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. His work focuses on bioprocess, marine biopolymer, and seafood processing technology.

He participated as a principal researcher of many projects funded by international organizations and projects such as: “Advanced utilization of chitosan extracted from shrimp waste in Vietnam” (2009-2010) funded by SRV 2701 project - the Norwegian Government support for Nha Trang University;  “Recovery of valuable components from shrimp processing waste” (2007-2009) funded by International Foundation of Science (IFS), Sweden; “Seafood safety assessment of some selected aquaculture species in the Van Phong Bay and Nha Trang Bay of Khanh Hoa province in Vietnam” funded by the Royal Norwegian Government;…

Being an active, skillful, and experienced researcher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trang Si Trung had many articles, publications on Vietnamese and international journals such as Asian Journal of Food and Agro-Industry, Bull Environ Contam Toxicol, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Carbohydrate Polymers,….He is skillful in research projects related to recovery/ purification/ usage of chitin and protein from by-products (of shrimp and Pangasius processing).

Beside to his outstanding achievements in research, he has been trusted by all staff members of Nha Trang University to be the Rector of the University since 2014 till now.
